How to use ? - Pumped-storage hydroelectricity

  • Step 1

Cut a small piece from the aluminium tape.

Pass it through the axis of the motor.

Press the tape so it glues well to the motor and seals the holes.

Cut around the aluminum leaving only a small strip to fold on the sides

  • Step 2

Wrap 60cm of sealing tape around the motor. Turn 4 times first on the side of the motor shaft side and then progressively backwards.

  • Step 3

Using a soldering iron, lightly melt the edge of a column of 5 ironing beads to glue them together.

To make work easy, you can place them on a vertically planted nail.

  • Step 4

With hot glue, fix four plastic rectangles to the 'beads column'.

  • Step 5

Attach the turbine to the axis of the motor.

{#lang_bricoWikiWarnings_warning} Attach the turbine to the axis of the motor with a tip of hot glue on the end of the bead column.

{#lang_bricoWikiWarnings_warning} The blades must not extend beyond the edges of the motor!

  • Step 6

It shoul look like that :

  • Step 7

At 3 cm from one end of the electrical tube adaptator, drill a hole with a 5 mm bit. Remove any deposits left inside.

  • Step 8

Cut a straw 7cm below the folding part. Push it into the hole in the hole and glue it around with hot glue, making sure that the straw does not stick out inside the tube (this can be quite tricky). To check if it well sealed, close both ends of the tube with your hands and blow into the straw. there should be some air resistance, no air should come out of the hole.

  • Step 9

Add 50 cm of sealing tape to the end of the tube (on the straw side).

  • Step 10

Attach two electric cables to the motor contacts using some connectors. Slightly squeeze the connectors over the contacts and fix them with a pliers.

  • Step 11

Connect the other ends of the wires to the solar cell respecting the polarities ( + & - indicated on the cell and red dot on the motor corresponding to the + ).

Push the moter into the sleeve until it can't go further.

  • Step 12

At the bottom of one of the small sides of the container drill a large hole with a 28mm disc cutter

  • Step 13

Push the tube into the hole in the tube.

Drill a hole in the cap of the Evian bottle with an M5 bit and place it firmly on the end of the tube (tank side).

  • Step 14

Keeping  about 8 cm from the base of the bottle, cut 'mountains'. Drill an M5 hole and pass a piece of straw about 3 cm through it. Seal with hot glue. Cut the end of the straw at an angle. Form a 'funnel' of about 8cm high by cutting the top of the bottle (neck side).

Using hot glue, attach the 'top lake' to the base of the upside down 'funnel'.

  • Step 15

Cut 2cm of straw and fix with hot glue the 6 pieces of foam to form a small turbine.

Pass the turbine in the center of a wire and glue 2 beads on either side while leaving enough room for the turbine to rotate freely.

Fold the wire in order to be able to fix the turbine on the edges of the tank.

  • Step 16

The model should look like that.

{#lang_bricoWikiWarnings_warning} Il est possible de colorer les 'montagnes' avec des stylos indélébiles.
