How to use ? - Solar food dehydrator

  • Step 1

Cut out 4 large holes in the small sides of the small cardboard.

{#lang_bricoWikiWarnings_warning} You can use a piece cutter and a drill or just make holes by hand

  • Step 2

Glue a sheet of aluminum to the bottom of the cardboard with white glue. Spray the inside with black paint.

  • Step 3

Build with some cardboard 4 supports for the glass and staple them in the middle of the 4 inner sides of the cardboard (without plugging the holes).

  • Step 4

Remove the 3 flaps of one side of the large cardboard leaving one of the large flaps untouched.

On the other side, shorten the 2 small flaps according to the picture below.

  • Step 5

    Tilt the cardboard box forward.

Cut a hole on top corresponding to the diameter of the chimney (cardboard tube), in the middle, 3cm from the rear edge.

Slide the 'drawer' into the space left open and attach it to the front flap with white glue.

  • Step 6

Attach the 'drawer' in place by stapling it to the two small lower flaps.

Cut out the excess part of the flaps.

  • Step 7

Place the glass on the 'drawer' supports and fix everything with large adhesive tape and without plugging the ventilation holes of the cardboard.

  • Step 8

Depending on the size of the cardboard, cut  6 pieces of insulation to isolate the box (except the back) and the bottom of the 'drawer'.

Cut a notch in the top to release the hole in the chimney. Glue them with white glue or double-sided adhesive tape if it's insulation foam.

Cover all junction points with black tape.

  • Step 9

Cut an insulation board the size of the rear opening. Push it in place and stick the flap on it as well as a small piece of insulation as a handle.

  • Step 10

On top, insert and glue the chimney. It must go 2cm inside.

A hot air adjustment disc can be added on top of the chimney (cardboard and a pin).

With a large awl, drill a small hole just behind the chimney. Slide the thermometer into it and push it 2 cm inside.

Attach the thermometer to the chimney with adhesive tape.

{#lang_bricoWikiWarnings_warning} If necessary, cut off the bottom of the thermometer scale.

  • Step 11

Fix 4 drawing pins in the side walls in the middle of the oven.

As a tray, put on top of them a piece of mesh cut to the width of the oven .

With an awl, drill a hole on each top back side of the oven as well as the top of the two wooden bars with a drill and an M4 bit.

Attach them to the oven using screws, bolts, washers and fins according to the drawing. Tighten them in place with pliers and a wrench.
